Growing up, Shaun faced the challenges of disability from a young age. His mother, a wheelchair user following an accident, instilled in him a deep understanding of the complexities of living with a disability. At the tender age of 10, Shaun found himself in foster care when his mother spent a year in hospital. It was during this challenging time that he was welcomed into the care of Lynda Holt, another wheelchair user, who became not only a foster mother but also a lifelong source of support and inspiration.

Despite facing adversity early in life, Shaun overcame significant obstacles, including battling addiction, to carve out a promising career in the mining industry. However, fate had other plans, and a life-altering motorcycle accident thrust Shaun into a new reality of life in a wheelchair. Despite the familiarity with disability through his mother's experience, Shaun embarked on a journey of relearning and resilience, determined to overcome every obstacle in his path.

Enduring a prolonged hospitalisation and a gruelling two-year battle with a chronic pressure wound, his determination never wavered. Instead, he saw this as an opportunity to create positive change. Harnessing his entrepreneurial spirit, he used his time in hospital to establish Disabled 2 Abled, a platform dedicated to assisting disabled individuals in finding products to enhance their lives.

Throughout this challenging time, Courtney emerged as a steadfast source of support. They crossed paths a year after his accident, and her unwavering encouragement and love have been instrumental in his journey. Now engaged, Courtney stands by his side as they navigate life's trials and triumphs together, her support adding an extra layer of strength to his determination to make a difference through Disabled 2 Abled.
